How to stay healthy while traveling?

At Essa World, travel and exploring new cultures are part of our DNA – alongside the many positives, we are well aware of the challenges too. When you are traveling it’s easier to be out of balance when it comes to your routine, your mind and your body. However, with a bit of conscious planning, these challenges can be easily overcome. Here are some Essa World tips to help you out.

  • Health kit
  • Always pack a health kit with essential medications, anti-inflammatories, painkillers, and vitamins. The Essa World Inner Beauty Multivitamin can cover all the important vitamins you need: this capsule is packed with 27 ingredients including essential vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, and beneficial plant extracts, all in a lightweight package. Essential oils can also be great travel companions: lavender oil can aid in sleep and relaxation, peppermint oil can relieve headaches and nausea, and tea tree oil has antibacterial properties.

  • Conscious eating & hydration
  • Tasting the local cuisine is one of the joys of travel, however it's important to make mindful food choices. If you follow a specific diet, look for local options in advance or book accommodation where you can cook. It's also wise to pack healthy snacks like nuts, dried fruits or granola bars to avoid unhealthy airport or roadside meal options. Don’t forget about hydration: flying can dehydrate your body, so make sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after your flight.

  • Sweet dreams
  • Make sleeping a priority, especially when different time zones and jet lag throw off your usual rhythm. Spend as much time as possible in natural light during the day, and create a calm sleep environment at night. Pack a sleep mask, earplugs and consider natural aids like magnesium, melatonin, or a cup of chamomile tea before bed. Pay attention to your body's signals and give yourself time to acclimate!

  • Hygiene above all
  • Good hygiene practices are especially crucial when traveling. Avoid touching your face, wash your hands regularly, and pack hand sanitizer in case clean water and soap are not available.

  • Shortened wellness routines
  • While it's tempting to make the most of every moment while traveling, don’t completely neglect your usual routines—just modify them. If you typically meditate for half an hour each day, ten minutes might be just enough now, and a 20-minute workout might replace your usual hour-long session. It’s best to take these routines outdoors and choose activities that allow you to explore your surroundings at the same time: running, walking, hiking, cycling, swimming or outdoor mindfulness practices.

  • Travel journal
  • Keep a travel journal to document your experiences and reflect on your adventures. Writing can have therapeutic benefits and helps maintain mental well-being.

Enjoy the last month of summer and hit the road!
