Cycle Wellness III: Plan Your Life at Your Rhythm
Ever feel like you’re stuck in a loop, trying to keep your days running at full speed, only to realize your body isn’t on the same page? It’s like trying to drive a car in high gear when it’s meant to cruise at different speeds. That’s because women’s bodies naturally cycle through different energy levels, and trying to power through every day the same way is like working against your own nature. In the previous episodes of our Cycle Wellness series, we covered syncing your food and workouts with your cycle. In this final episode, we’re shifting gears to focus on how to plan your days around your unique rhythm—creating a seamless flow between work, social time, and self-care.
Here’s how to plan your month for more balance, ease, and flow:
Menstrual Phase (Days 1–5): Rest & Reflect
The Menstrual Phase is your natural reset time—energy is low, and your body focuses on internal processes. It’s the perfect opportunity to slow down, reflect, and recharge. Instead of pushing yourself to be productive, allow your body the space it needs for rest. Keep your schedule light, avoid high-energy tasks and focus on quiet, creative work. This is the time for brainstorming, deep thinking and setting intentions for the month ahead.
Best things to do:
✔️ Prioritize rest & low-energy tasks – don’t expect too much of yourself.
✔️ Say no to anything draining – this is your sacred time to recharge.
✔️ Embrace quiet time – take walks or meditate to center yourself.
✔️ Engage in creative, solo activities – write, draw, or engage in a hobby that fuels your inner calm.
✔️ Journal, reflect, and set intentions for the month – clarity and focus come when you slow down.
Follicular Phase (Days 6–14): Brainstorm & Take Action
As your body moves out of the slower menstrual phase, your energy starts to surge thanks to rising estrogen. This is the phase when you feel more motivated, creative, and ready to take on new challenges. Your brain is sharper, making it the perfect time for problem-solving, and planning ahead. This is the phase where new opportunities feel exciting, and you're more open to experimenting. It's time to embrace fresh starts, learn new skills, and set the foundation for what’s to come.
Best things to do:
✔️ Start new projects – the perfect time to kick off fresh ideas and plans.
✔️ Schedule important meetings or interviews – your brain is on fire, and your communication skills are on point.
✔️ Try or learn new things – whether it’s a new hobby or a new approach at work, this is your experimental phase.
✔️ Take on challenges – step out of your comfort zone and embrace new opportunities.
✔️ Collaborate with others – your energy and ideas are contagious, making it a great time to work with a team.
Ovulatory Phase (Days 15–17): Work hard, play hard
Welcome to your power phase! With estrogen at its peak, you’re likely to feel more confident, outgoing, and ready to take on the world. Your charisma is off the charts, making this the perfect time to tackle high-energy tasks that require focus, communication, and social interaction. Whether it’s giving a speech, networking, or taking on a challenging conversation, now is your time to shine. You’ll find it easier to connect with others, so make the most of this phase to collaborate, lead, and put yourself out there.
Best things to do:
✔️ Plan social events, dates, or group activities – you’re magnetic, so use this energy to bond and connect.
✔️ Have difficult conversations – this is the time for those tricky talks, whether at work or with loved ones.
✔️ Pitch ideas or ask for a raise – your persuasive powers are strong, making it an ideal time for negotiations.
✔️ Lead a team or project – your ability to influence and inspire is at a high, so take charge.
✔️ Engage in public speaking – whether for work or personal growth, you’ll shine in front of an audience.
✔️ Take advantage of networking opportunities – your ability to connect with others and leave a lasting impression is amplified.
Luteal Phase (Days 18–28): Wrap Up & Wind Down
As progesterone levels rise, you might feel a natural pull to slow down and turn inward. This is your finishing phase, where it’s best to focus on completing tasks, getting organized, and prioritizing your well-being. If you’re feeling irritable or overwhelmed, don’t push through—honor these signals and give yourself the space to rest and restore.
Best things to do:
✔️ Complete unfinished projects & organize your space – tie up loose ends, clear clutter, and create a sense of order.
✔️ Prioritize self-care & nourishing activities – focus on relaxation & mindfulness.
✔️ Say no to extra commitments – protect your time and energy by being selective about your obligations.
✔️ Set boundaries with others – communicate your need for space and protect your emotional well-being.
✔️ Prioritize sleep – ensure you’re getting enough rest to recharge and prepare for the next phase of your cycle.
✔️ Be kind to yourself – honor your emotions and give yourself grace as you wind down for the month ahead.
